Foster care seminars

Wanting to do the right thing in a life or death situation is a fairly natural human emotion. Seeing pound dogs due to die within hours and their sad faces and seemingly pleading eyes can trigger you into making a choice that can either enrich you as a person, or leave you and those you love mentally and physically scarred.

Seem extreme? Amazingly this is the reality, the reality that a lot of people face when they decide on impulse to 'foster' a dog.

IM are hosting this series of seminars to introduce people to the World of foster care, and give a genuine insight on what it's really like taking a 'lodger dog' into your home and family. From the hilarious to the downright scary, we aim to answer your questions and help you decide what kind of foster carer you can become.

Covering; finding the right rescue for you (did you know that anyone can say they're a dog rescue?) the law and rescue insurance, how to avoid enthusiastic amateurs and why they are dangerous, what to do when things go wrong, nutrition, behaviour, and a genuine insight into how rescue actually works (it's not all Lady and the Tramp) and much more, from people right on the front line day in and day out.

We know that foster care can be a steep learning curve, with little or no idea what to expect, and sometimes little support, we hope to give you the benefit of our experiences working with some of the biggest and most aggressive dogs in the UK, what we got right, what we got wrong, and what we learned on the way.

Places are limited to keep groups small and unimposing, and to give each of you the time to receive one to one advice during our Q&A sessions. Information is not all written, people learn in different ways and we aim for our seminars to be useful to all kinds of people.

To book a place, please either email monkeymagique@hotmail.com or call 07725 039 736 during office hours. Seminars last 4 hours (minimum) and costs are £20 per person per date.

No dogs please, some of our stooge dogs will be attending for practical parts of the seminar.
